Request Info: Tracy Lewis Notes: REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS The Mount Pleasant Waterworks (MPW) is requesting interested Pipeline (Prime) Contractors and Horizontal Directional Drill (Sub) Contractors to complete a prequalification package for the construction of the following capital improvement project: RO WTP #2 Concentrate Outfall Extension (MPW Project No. W-TR-08-01) This project will consist of constructing approximately 675 LF of 10.75-inch O.D. (8.72-inch I.D.) DR 11 HDPE RO WTP concentrate outfall pipeline by horizontal directional drilling into the Wando River, connections to existing concentrate pipeline, outfall structure/assembly, roadway restoration and associated appurtenances. Specific construction expertise is required for this project due to its complex nature. MPW is pre-qualifying all contractors as described below: Pipeline (Prime) Contractors - In order to be considered for prequalification within this category, contractor must have significant experience with horizontal directional drill (HDD) pipeline projects while serving as the prime contractor responsible for coordinating HDPE pipe purchase and assembly, subcontracting and managing HDD subcontractor, performing open-cut pipeline installation and connection to existing mains, and hydrostatic testing. Recent experience must be for 10.75-inch and larger pipelines and all related work shall have been performed by the contractors own personnel. Contractor shall also provide qualifications of a marine subcontractor(s) he would employ to perform related work, such as construction of outfall structure / assembly and pipe management during pull-back. Contractor may submit qualifications of multiple marine subcontractors. Horizontal Directional Drill (Sub) Contractors - In order to be considered for prequalification within this category, contractor must have significant experience with a minimum 800LF, 10.75-inch O.D. DR 11 HDPE pipe (or larger) installed by the HDD method into the formation with an open water body exit. All related work shall have been performed by the contractors own personnel. Bid Documents are expected to be available for prequalified contractors in July 2008.
