Mount Pleasant Waterworks Receives Presentation from Pinckney Elementary Students

Mount Pleasant, S.C.  - - March 27, 2013 - - During the March Commission Meeting, Mount Pleasant Waterworks received a presentation by students from Pinckney Elementary School who were seeking support in their efforts to purchase new drinking water fountains for their school.

The students presented the Commissioners with reasons they were concerned with their current drinking water fountains installed by the school district when the school was built.  The students also outlined their mission of providing clean drinking fountains.

Through the efforts of these students one new water fountain has been installed in their cafeteria.  The student’s goal is to install four additional water fountains.

The water fountains the students would like to install provide the ability for students to fill drinking water bottles.  By having the ability to fill water bottles the students will consume more water during their school day.  These water fountains cost $1,161.75. To date the students have raised $400.00; which will be given back to Charleston County School District to cover the cost of the water fountain that was installed in the cafeteria.

To help with the cost of the fountains, students are raising money by selling Fresh Water Fresh Forever bracelets for $2.00 each.  To support their efforts please contact Pinckney Elementary School at 843.856.4585.
